Getting to Cortona

The closest airports are in Florence and Rome.

Located very near the geographic heart of Italy, Cortona can be easily reached either by car or by train, being served by the Autostrada del Sole (Valdichiana exit), State Road SS 71 and the Milan-Florence-Rome railway.

By Train:
There is no train station in Cortona itself - the town is perched on the side of a steep hill - but there are two nearby stations. The station at Camucia, from which buses to Cortona run regularly, is only five kilometres away.

Only slightly further away, is the busier station at Terontola. Regular buses to Cortona run from here as well and taxis are easier to find.

Train schedules to and from Cortona can be find here

By Car:
Two major highways - the A1 (Autostrada del Sole) and the SS326 (Siena-Perugia State Road).

Autostrada del Sole: "Valdichiana" Exit. Upon exiting the highway, take the Siena-Perugia State Road and continue towards Perugia. There are 3 possible turn-offs for Cortona: Cortona via Manzano, Cortona via Laurentana and Cortona via Strada Statale 71 (State Road 71). In this latter case, at Camucia there is a deviation for Cortona and Citta' di Castello (the Umbrian-Cortonese Province Road).

Some distances are: 167 kilometers from Rome; 100 kilometers from Florence; 51 kilometers from Perugia; and 80 kilometers from Siena.
